How I work

I am a counsellor and psychotherapist in London and I offer Brief Psychodynamic Counselling, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and a Gender Sexuality and Relationship Diverse (GSRD)* therapy or the combination of them tailored accordingly to the client's needs. I am training as a Psychosexual and Relationship Therapist (Diploma in Clinical Sexology) at the   Contemporary Institute of Clinical Sexology (CICS).

Psychodynamic counselling includes exploring how our childhood experiences and early relationships can shape our present relationships and circumstances, creating patterns of relating and our own sense of self.

These patterns of behaviour or relationships, even though we are unaware of them and they may no longer reflect our adult experiences, are still present in our adult life. By being more aware of these patterns of behaviour or relationships and how they impact the way in which we see the world, and our position in it, we can change this perception of the world in a way that assists us to have a more fulfilled and better lives.

I work one-on-one in order to fully support my clients to gain improved self-understanding so that they are then able to make more appropriate life choices and live more wholly.    This processmay involves uncovering the deeper origins of difficulties by exploring experiences, feelings, dreams, desires and patterns of relating that are contributing to present difficulties.

I may integrate psychodynamic counselling with CBT, relational, attachment-based and, gender and sexual diversity therapy and supportive counselling.

As well as working with clients who identify themselves as LGBT+, I have experience working with clients who do not use labels to define their sexuality or identity.

The field of psychodynamic therapy is an exciting and sometimes unsettling search to understand humankind. It has come a long way from a moment of transition in which progressive cisgender and LGBT+ practitioners are discussing LGBT+ outside the often pathologizing question of aetiology, while LGBT+ clinicians like myself are entering the profession, studying and presenting on the topic.

I abide by the BACP, BPC,  COSRT and ACTO Code of Ethics and am DBS-checked.
